El Presidente Leonel Fernández se reunió la tarde ayer en Panamá con el Presidente constitucional de Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, quien le pidió utilizar su influencia y prestigio ante la OEA y el Gobierno de Estados Unidos para que se logre el objetivo de la comunidad internacional de retornarlo a la presidencia. Ambos conversaron de forma animada sobre la situación y las posibles salidas a la crisis.

El presidente Leonel Fernández se reunió la tarde ayer en Panamá con el depuesto mandatario de Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, quién le pidió utilizar su influencia y prestigio ante la OEA y el gobierno de Estados Unidos para que se logre el objetivo de la comunidad internacional de retornarlo a la presidencia.

Durante la reunión, trataron sobre los aspectos acordados por las organizaciones de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) y de Estados Americanos (OEA), para su vuelta.

Tras el encuentro, Fernández dejó claro que de no cumplirse el mandato de la OEA antes del plazo de las 72 horas, se observará la aplicación del artículo 21 de la Carta Democrática Interamericana, que establece la exclusión de Honduras del organismo hemisférico.
